A few steps away is the Gustavo Modena Theatre, Genoa's only nineteenth-century theatre still used for live performances, and the Lanterna, the symbol of the City of Genoa.
The Lanterna is located on the eastern edge of the Sampierdarena district, accessible thanks to a pedestrian promenade of about 800 metres, which runs along the old city walls and overlooks the docks. The promenade starts at the Genoa Ferry Terminal.
